Bronas Pate

Bronas W. Pate, 86, of the Higgins Community, went to  be with Jesus, Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Smoky Ridge.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Alvin and Minnie McIntosh Pate.  He was also preceded in death by a sister:  Alice Pate; brother: Bruce Pate; and son-in-law:  Danny Hughes.  Bronas was a former employee of Mohasco and Henredon, where he was known as “Hammer”.  He attended Higgins Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years:  Ina Jean Silvers Pate; daughter:  Jana Pate Hughes; a grandson:  Cody Hughes, all of Burnsville; 2 sisters:  Alma Shuford of Marion and Lillian Hensley of Granite Falls; brothers and sisters-in-law:  Ronald and Ruth, Gary and Deb and Marvin and Nancy Silvers of Burnsville and Betty and Danny Franklin of Marion; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3PM Wednesday in Higgins Free Will Baptist Church.  Rev. Junior Peterson will officiate.  Burial will be in Bee Log Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 3PM prior to the service at the church.
