Cara Hensley Ollis, 88, of West Glendale Avenue, Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, June 5, 2017 at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.  A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Silas and Ida Hampton Hensley, and the wife of John P. Ollis, who passed away in 2006. She was also preceded in death by sisters; Dorothy McCurry and Pansy Hensley: brothers; Everett, Glen, Ernest and Fred Hensley and a step great-granddaughter; Mariah Halker.  Cara was owner of Corner Fashions for many years.

Surviving are her son, Randy Ollis and wife Judy, of Burnsville: 2 step grandchildren; Dawn Huntley and husband Laron and Brad Halker and wife Taneka and 6 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews  who she loved dearly, and her faithful companion “Oreo”.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Thursday June 8, 2017 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  Dr. Chris Morgan and Rev. Ricky Ray will officiate. Burial will be in the McIntosh Cemetery on Glendale Avenue.

The family will receive friends 2 until 4 PM Thursday prior to the service and at other times will be at her home.

Memorials may be made to Bolens Creek Baptist Church Youth Ministries, 19 Heavenly Lane,  Burnsville, NC 28714.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given at Smoky Ridge, Hospice of Yancey County and “Cara’s Girls” who cared for her.
