Judith “Judie” Gardner Hicks, 75, of Newdale formerly of Greensboro, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Charlotte, while visiting with her family.  Before moving to Burnsville, she was a resident of Greensboro, having worked with UNCG.  After moving to Burnsville she worked with Advantage West until her retirement.  Judie enjoyed working with her flowers and lawn, spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her sister, and watching Carolina Basketball with her husband Dean.

Surviving is her husband of 17 years, Dean Hicks; two daughters; Eleanor Tuttle and fiancée Jeff Hepler of Cornelius, and Kathy Bolte of Chapel Hill:  stepchildren; Jodie Davis and husband Randy of Jupiter and Matt Hicks of Burnsville;  grandchildren:  Shannon, Chloe, Maddie, Ben, Cassie, Tanner and Hunter; a great granddaughter: Kinsley; sister:  Terry Sanford of Sunset beach, NC, formerly of Charlotte; brother:  Donald Gardner of Saint Matthews, SC, and special brother-in-law:  Frank Sanford.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday December 2, 2017 at Martins Chapel United Methodist Church, of which she attended.  Rev. Ken Anderson will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
