Leatha (Edwards) LewisJanuary 10, 1921 ~ October 6, 2017 (age 96)
Leatha Edwards Lewis, 96, of the Little Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 6, 2017, at her home. Leatha loved the Lord, reading her Bible, listening to gospel music and having church services in her home on Monday mornings for many years. She was a member of the Little Creek Holiness Church. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Gertha Edwards, and the wife of Arvil Lewis who died in 1987. She was also preceded in death by a son: Bobby Gene Lewis; sisters: Pansy Randolph and Wilma Bradford; and, a brother: Roy Collins.
Left to cherish her memory are a son: Arvil Junior Lewis (Linda) of the home; daughters: Nadine Hopson and Sheila Taylor of Burnsville, Maxine Penland (Clinton) and Evelyn Pritchard (C. L.) of Morganton, Kathleen Rhymer of Marion and Barbara Trotter (Jerry) of Cumberland Furnace, TN; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 24 great, great grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver: Shirley Byrd.
Funeral services will be held at 7PM Monday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Brothers Dayton Lewis and Lou Franklin will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Tuesday in the Arvil Lewis Cemetery at Little Creek.
