Charles Garrett “Chuck” Crowder, 47, went home to be with his Lord on March 18, 2018, at Care Partners Solace Center of Asheville after suffering a traumatic brain injury. He was the son of Ida Jane Maney Crowder of Burnsville and the late Charles Sherrell Crowder. He was also preceded in death by grandparents: Burl and Una Maney and Charles and Doris Crowder, and an aunt: Murrell Hughes.
Chuck attended Duke University and was a gifted swim teacher and lifeguard. He enjoyed nature, music, movies, all animals and a good debate.
In addition to his mother, Chuck is survived by aunts: Marie Nicholson and Mike of Burnsville and Patricia Weatherman and Doug of Lewisville, NC; sister and brother of his heart: Debbie McKinney of Burnsville and Brandon Seals of Philadelphia, PA; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and Zeek his cat.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30PM Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Cane River Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Revs. Shane Cassida and Dennis Thurman will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Thursday in Gilbert Wilson Cemetery on Maney Branch Road.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
