Clyde Laws, 82, of the Celo community, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Thursday, December 27, 2018, at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Bill and Nancy Hughes Laws. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years: Edith Carroll Laws; and a brother: Edd Laws.
Clyde retired from South Toe Elementary School, where he loved being with the children. He was a lifelong member of Browns Creek Baptist Church, where he served as an usher for 40 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter: Sandra L. Allison and husband, Bob; son: Tony C. Laws and wife, Sherry; granddaughter: Mackenzie Autrey Coffey and husband, Jeremiah; grandson: Chadd Hensley and Shanna Hilliard; great grandson: Drew Hensley and his mother, Krista Hensley; brothers: Bobby Laws and wife, Jean, Lewis Laws and wife, Diane; and sister-in-law: Ruth Laws. Special nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive.
A celebration of life will be held at 2PM Sunday in Browns Creek Baptist Church. Officiating will be his son, Tony C. Laws, and Revs. Shane Buchanan, David Brown, Donald Davis and Kelly Bryant. Burial will follow in the Carroway Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy, Eddie, Bruce and Robert Laws, Harlon Parker and Kenneth Autrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Royce Carroway, Robert Wilson, Ronnie Kates, Buddy McMahan, David Autrey, Donald Loftis, David Letterman and Byrl Ballew.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7PM Saturday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.
