Dolph Silvers, 82, of Saw Mill Hollow, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, Wednesday, July 12, 2017. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Silas and Leacy Higgins Silvers. He was preceded in death by multiple brothers and sisters. Dolph was Co-owner of Dolph & S. W. Silvers Construction. He was a US Army Veteran having served in the 82nd Air-borne. He was a member and Sunday School Teacher at Byrd Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lillian Berry Silvers; a daughter: Gwen Aldridge and husband Gerald of Burnsville; a granddaughter: Vickie Banks and husband David of Mars Hill; a brother S. W. Silvers and sister Gladys Woodby of Burnsville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 7 PM Friday July 14, 2017 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be 11 AM Saturday in the Jack Silvers Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 4 until 7 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
