Effie Hudgins Austin, 92, of Indian Creek, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 5, 2018. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Woodfin and Clete Arrowood Hudgins. She was the wife of the late Glen Austin who died in 2004. Effie was also preceded in death by a son: Ralph Austin; a son-in-law: Wade Murphy; a daughter-in-law: Inez Capps Austin; and, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Surviving are 5 sons: Ronnie Austin and wife, Carol Ann, of Marion, Willie Austin of Greeneville, TN, Quinton Austin of Mars Hill, Garrett Austin and wife, Vicki, of Spruce Pine, and Charles Austin and wife, Sherrie, of Burnsville; 4 daughters: Jeanette Murphy, Marvelene Elkins and husband, Ben, Wanda Johnson and husband, Ed, and Becky Silvers and husband, Damon, all of Burnsville; 33 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; and 20 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 o’clock Noon, Saturday, November 10, 2018, in Elk Shoal Baptist Church. Rev. Stacy Elkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Austin Cemetery on Prices Creek. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church
