Elouise Norton Hughes, 84, of Burnsville, formerly of Hickory, went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 23, 2018 at Madison Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born on October 30, 1933 to the late Harley and Virgie Norton. Elouise was the wife of the late Vero Hughes. She is also preceded in death by three brothers: John Manion, Tommy and Bobby Norton; two sisters, Ann Hill and Molly Herrin; two grandsons, Jimmy Stanfill and Timothy Carter.
Surviving are her daughters: Delores Hunt of Mayoden, Bertie Starr and husband, Buddy of Burnsville, Sherry Pope of Hickory; son: Stacey Hughes and wife, Heather of Hickory; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; brother: Perry Norton and wife Doris; sisters: Nell Cooper and Marie Proffitt all of Burnsville, Carolyn Cooper of Conover , Gerline Proffitt and husband, Gene of Marion, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Reverend Bill Sturm will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
