Marjorie Williams Allen (Mamaw), 87, of Burnsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at 3:45 PM at her daughter's residence, where she had been for the past 6 months.
She was born January 25, 1932 in Cumberland, Kentucky to the late Walter and Martha Williams.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband: John Ray Allen of 57 years; her son: William Ray Allen of 68 years; and siblings: Gerdine Williams, Jerome Williams, Joe Williams, and Chloe Hughes.
In her retirement, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren and grand dog (Macy).
Marjorie is survived by a daughter: Tonya Allen Ray and son-in-law: Horace Daniel Ray III, of Burnsville, two grandchildren: Whitney Ray Phillips and husband, Landon Neaves Phillips, of Clemmons, and Summer Ray Watson and husband, Brennen Chase Watson, of Newland, a brother: Boyd Williams of Marion; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend: Judy Riddle.
She was trying so hard to hold on to life, as her first great grandchild is expected to be born in October 2019.
Hospice of the Blue Ridge provided care since March. She longed for and had anticipation of heaven, but at the same time, desired to be with her loved ones.
Service will be held at 3PM Saturday in Low Gap Free Will Baptist Church, of which she was a member for 40 years. Rev. Blaine Whitson and Rev. Stanley McMahan will officiate. A graveside service will follow in the Ray/Riddle Cemetery on Bee Branch.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
