Wilhelmina Ayers Hensley, 91, of the Bolens Creek community, passed on Monday, August 27, 2018, surrounded by her family and her Pastor. Born July 3, 1927 to the late Fred and Dell Roland Ayers, she was the wife of Edgar B. Hensley who died in 1998. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Tommy Ayers; a sister: June Young; and, a grandson: Matthew Mesa. Wilhelmina retired from the Yancey County school system after 30 years of teaching.
Surviving are her children: Wesley Hensley and wife, Wanda; daughter: Jan Mesa, both of Burnsville; 6 grandchildren: Chris Mesa and wife, Jennifer, Stuart Mesa, Lisa Hall and husband, Evan, Shana Lilley and husband, Daniel, and Tim and Amber Hensley; and 2 great grandson: Ethan and Logan.
Funeral services will be held at 3PM Saturday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Dr. Chris Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow in Banks Cemetery on Bolens Creek.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
